Stop existing.. Start living!
"It does not do to dwell on dreams and forget to live."
-- J.K. Rowling
Dream -Something that happens inside our head at night and what we carry in our heart during day. Dreams are of two types, Inward – subconscious one that occurs in our sleep and Outward- one that we carry in our heart probably with a motive. Our dream motivates us, carries us forward, gives a reason to live and probably makes us what we are! While we are chasing our (outward) dreams we tend to forget our inner thoughts and feelings.
Right from our childhood we are on a fast track to stay ahead. Pressure from parents, family, school and even competition from our own friends make us gear ourselves for a war and the urge to win keeps us awake at night. We set our goals and dream as we grow up and then move into top gear- In the race to achieve our dream aspirations – job, life partner, luxuries in life and several ego boosters.
We get a job but in the fight for survival forget to enjoy our work, get married but don’t get time to enjoy the finer and brighter part of sharing and caring; we get the luxuries in life but don’t spare time to get pleasure from them. Life starts to become mechanised. We end up forgetting the basic instincts of the social animal called human, instincts like smiling, sharing, supporting etc...
Happiest is the person who hits the bed at night thinking of a good deed he did that day, a ‘Thank you’ or a ‘smile’ he/she received that day. Forget about helping someone financially – some think donating money is the biggest help we can do for people. A simple smile is sometimes what can brighten someone’s life. A helping hand and a shoulder to support, a warm heart and an understanding soul is perhaps all that most of us require in times of need.
I still remember a poor farmer and his family who went out their way to help us on a return trip from Coorg to Bangalore. Our bike broke down at night and we were stranded in the deserted highway, they provided us food, shelter and even got our bike fixed. Surprisingly they refused the money we offered. We were really embarrassed to put a price on their care and support for fellow human beings. We all were silent as we were rode back- We had good education, great job, well settled home, MONEY... But what we lacked made us feel like useless creations of God. Even a donkey is of use to mankind without expecting anything in return! In the pursuit of our dream(s) let us not forget to live!Let’s get some more humanity in our lives... Let’s become humans for a change!

I am talking about the same thinking pattern that you are showcasing. Nowadays most of us think about surviving in this competitive world and end up losing out on special moments which is offered by life...
I am not saying that we should renounce this competitive world and follow a spiritual path. In tune with Darwin's theory of 'survival of the fittest'; we should do whatever it takes to get the best in this competitive world. But all I ask is to not neglect the humane touch in our lives :-) Keep Smiling!
